See us regularly
Attend regular check-ups so we can spot problems early and give you the very best dental care – that normally means coming to see us at least twice a year. We can also spot any changes to your mouth, gums and teeth which could indicate more serious issues such as oral cancer.
Carry on the good work at home
Brush your teeth at least twice a day – especially before going to bed and try to clean between your teeth once a day using floss or interdental brushes. Cleaning your tongue with a tongue cleaner will also contribute to a healthy mouth.
Watch what you eat
Avoid overindulging in sugary or acidic foods and if you do, eat sweet treats straight after a meal. If you do fancy a sugary snack between meals, then try to eat it all in one go, rather than making it last.
Your tooth enamel can be softened by acidic foods such as citrus fruits, wine and fizzy drinks so, as an exception to the regular brushing rule, avoid brushing your teeth for at least 30 minutes after eating. Instead rinse your mouth with water or chew sugar-free gum to help neutralise acids.
Care for tiny teeth too
Teach youngsters good oral hygiene as early as possible and bring them to see us from a young age so they get used to regular visits to the dentist.
